Having Products You Can Call Your Own

I know that as an online business owner, probably the biggest difficulty in getting your online business off the ground, is having products to sell that you can call your own.

But once you get past that first hurdle...

Once that first barrier is passed...

Then almost out of nowhere you quickly get the motivation and incentive to get even more products online.

In my long experience, having your own business branded product is definitely where the money is.

And being able to offer something new on a regular basis means that your customers soon come to realise that you really DO mean business and they quickly feel like they know you, associate with you, and like you.

That last one is more important than you might think.

By releasing and offering a new product every month, you'll find that your business is growing in a controlled fashion and that you're able to focus on one project at a time.

I've found that a good project cycle when you're starting out is 30 days or less.

Thirty days is an optimum period of time for a single project.  Especially when you're just getting it all going and trying to hold down a full time day job, as well as setting up your online business.

A business which will eventually get you OUT of that day job...

But none of us have unlimited time to do things, so the controlled 30 day project cycle you'd like to stick to soon becomes nothing more than a dream as the daily routine of life, and the distractions of FaceBook and YouTube get in your way.

There aren't many people who can hold down their full time day job and then have the luxury of coming home and spending another 5-6 hours working on product creation.

The simple answer is...

 

...Get Someone Else To Do It For You

It's not always obvious though is it?

You have a few choices of how you can go about this.

#1 - You can hire full time employees.

#2 - You can hire freelancers.

#3 - You can get Private Label Rights (PLR) to a product that you can modify and call your own.

 

Of the three above the last option is far less fraught with danger than either of the other two.

For example, if you hire a full time employee, it can cost you an arm and a leg before you realise they can't actually do what they said they could.  (Been there, done that.)

And if you hire a freelancer, they can turn out to be very expensive for similar reasons, either in terms of time or abilities.

The last option is not only much safer, it's also by far the cheapest.  And when you're starting out, keeping your costs down is one of those things you have to keep your eye on.

As someone once pointed out to me, if you're a smart business owner, you want to reduce your costs and increase your sales.

That's why a lot of smart marketers like PLR so much.

 

Think About It

Using PLR you can take an existing product and sales page, tweak it all to suit yourself and make it unique.  More importantly you can do it quickly.

But PLR isn't always wine and roses though.

There are a lot of PLR products out there that are quite frankly junk.

I know because I've been unfortunate enough to buy some of them.  In fact as I write this, I bought some junk just yesterday.  I opened the zip I'd purchased only to find I'd spent money on buying some of the same poor quality reports I already had, which contained out of date and plain wrong information.

Getting hold of PLR to something that has a high perceived value and is actually any good can be very difficult to do.  And if you've had any experience of sourcing of a decent PLR product, you know exactly what I'm talking about.

When you stop and think about it, if you take ebooks for instance, then there are plenty of them out there already.  And unless you really have something new and valuable to say, it can be difficult to become a recognised name unless the ebook you're releasing really does have a very high wow factor.

Which is generally not the case with bog standard PLR.

And personally, I know for a fact that software and designer graphics products have a MUCH higher perceived value than an ebook and you can charge a lot more for it.

The great thing is that for me, the ideas for software (especially from a marketers perspective) are far easier to come up with.  I end up having too many ideas, and that's just very good news for you.

So the next logical step is to put together that higher perceived value and my glut of software product ideas...

Hiring And Firing

That's how I've always felt anyway, and more than a few people have said the same thing to me, so I know I'm not alone.  To me, most of the restrictions that are placed on PLR have always been a pain and are there to protect the PLR creator rather than the buyers.

For instance, do you REALLY want to be told you can't sell a product in a nickel sale or on an auction site, or on ClickBank?

Of course not.

With PL Ahh you've bought the rights to the product, go do what you like with it.

 

However...

There are TWO very reasonable restrictions for the products you get from PL Ahh.
